  1. Understand that everything is energy – including money.
  2. Energetic bank balance – the money you attract is related to your present-moment feelings about yourself. when you are feeling happy and good (“I feel like a million bucks”)
  3. The law of exchange – you get out what you put in. What are you giving to the world?
  4. As long as you are creating value for the world, you will be abundant.
  5. Your attitude about money is key. If you hate money, then money will hate you.

The Next Time You’re Feeling Exhausted, Stop & Ask Yourself this One Question.

“I’m just really tired,” my boyfriend mumbled to me on a lazy Wednesday evening last week.

I heard him clearly, over the sound of too-loud canned laughter on the sitcom we were only partly watching.
But, deep in my gut, I felt so sure that something else was wrong.
I swear I could see a black cloud and several little gremlins hovering above him.
I pestered him lovingly, asking “What’s wrong?” and “Are you okay?” far too many times before I finally just let it be.
Pause.
Fast-forward to a week later.
“I’m just really tired,” I mutter breathily to my boyfriend as he peppers me with a steady and sweet stream of “Are you sure you’re okay?” and “I’m worried about you.”
You know what?
Neither of us were really “just really tired” after all.
We were both feeling exhausted, yes this is true.
But, we both had a wealth of crap going on underneath that surface layer of exhaustion.
I, for instance, was having intense feelings of worthlessness and frustration.
I was feeling angry with myself for not being “more” in my life, for feeling like I haven’t achieved “enough.”
I was feeling down-and-out and generally not good enough.
I was feeling sad and scared about this new life I’m trying to create for myself.
And to be quite honest, at the time, I just felt too lazy (and terrified) to unravel what was truly going on.

Blaming exhaustion was the perfect escape route from looking any deeper.

Somehow, though, my sweet man and I were able to shine some light on each other’s darkness by (finally) asking this one question:
What are you really feeling, besides the physical exhaustion?
Oh the power behind that seemingly simple question.
For me, it felt like my tiredness was validated, while at the same time being seen straight through (like oh sh*t, I can’t hide under it anymore.)
Essentially, I felt both comforted and slapped awake.
It was exactly perfect.
Once my man and I had successfully posed this query to one another, we began to dive headfirst into our emotions, and our energy (wait for it…)
Returned to normal!
The tiredness evaporated.
I beg you:
Ask yourself what you’re really feeling, besides exhaustion.
Ask a loved one.
Ask it sincerely.
Ask it fiercely.
Ask it gently.
But most of all: answer it as precisely and honestly as possible.
Take your time.
You might be surprised what reveals itself.
When we don’t allow ourselves to fully experience our emotions, concerns, fears, or pain, it’s like a huge hand going inside us and suffocating our life force.
Our light gets snuffed out.
Our energy burns up more quickly than usual because we’re desperately trying to stuff the things we don’t want to see in a dark closet somewhere far, far away.
We keep the door shut. And lock it tight. And guard it incessantly.
F*ck! That takes a ton of effort.
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather live as vivaciously as possible. I’d rather be real with myself and face the sh*t that’s going on, no matter how scary or overwhelming it seems.
It often takes less energy to unravel our true feelings than it does to keep suppressing them.
So, if you’re feeling extra tired, exhausted or burnt-out please gently ask yourself how you are, besides just tired.
Really ask.
Let’s start to take a real interest in our feelings.
They are not just pesky inconveniences.
And, no, they cannot be simply swept away without consequences.
Our emotions are trying to communicate deeper truths to us, so let’s try to be more open to what they have to say.
We deserve that.
We need that—more than we even know.
So, let’s close our eyes and dive in right now.

*
Note: Sometimes, of course, we really are just tired, under the weather, exhausted and pure rest is all that’s needed. Additionally, sometimes emotional upset also calls for extra rest. Listen closely and carefully to yourself and feel out what you need.

Exploring Your Own Resistances

If your goal is to become more conscious, expand your consciousness, or raise the level of your reality experience all together – one of the best places to start is with your resistances.
By becoming progressively aware of the areas in which you can become/can be made defensive, we reveal the fertile soil for personal progress and growth.
The more severe your reaction toward that which displeases or upsets you, the greater your opportunity and potential are for growing yourself to a new level of being.
The Friends and Family Discount of Telling The Truth to Yourself!
For example, let’s say you have a friend who’s constantly getting themselves into bad relationships, whereby there’s never-ending drama and emotional abuse.
When you try and talk to them about it, even in a helpful, harmonious manner – they snap and give you the cold shoulder for three days.
That’s resistance.
Your friend has tremendous opportunity to grow, should they choose to become conscious and face the issues which repeatedly plague their relationship life.
Those patterns are there for a reason. You’re supposed to recognize them, adapt, and change them so you can grow beyond them.
You have many of these same patterns operating within your own life, right now. Many of which, you’re probably unaware. Those are your most dangerous patterns, because they control your behavior the most.
The easiest way to start locating and isolating the “big patterns” deep in your subconscious is to begin working through your negative emotions whenever you notice them arising.
Negative Emotions and States = “Wake Up!” Alarms
As I’ve stated countless times in past articles, your negative emotions have a very important purpose; they exist as “alarms”, alerting you that an increase in perception is required to pass.
That increase in perception is your conscious awareness of your internal resistances.
What you resist will persist.
Every time you ignore, rationalize, or stubbornly try and push through states such as anger, jealousy, or even fear – you lower your awareness.
You lower your awareness because you’re allowing those states to control you, rather than shifting your consciousness to the place where you realize that those things are simply a result of your consciousness itself.
You ARE consciousness, and thus you can change anything WITHIN your consciousness.
This is a huge shift.
This is like becoming aware that YOU are the computer that’s convincing itself that its got bugs in its programming. When you realize that you’re both the computer AND the programmer, you stop letting other people’s programming control your system/set up/”rig”.
Fear, worry, and doubt are literally your consciousness reaction to things which are most out of resonance with you. “Do not continue on that way. Turn around. Shift your focus…”
The lessons of negative emotions is that they teach of the empty vacuum that they truly are. They are empty containers in which you spend your precious conscious energy.
This is why you “feel spent” after entertaining fruitless ideas mired in fear, worry, and doubt for several hours straight.
You’re writing and cashing checks that you’re not even aware of.
Stop putting the currency of your consciousness into negative thinking, the keys to your happiness into other people’s pockets, and then claiming “you don’t know where to look”.

Resistance is a Sign that More Clarity is Required to Advance
Resistance is ultimately the result of a lack of clarity.
This is something I dive into in great detail in my first Premium Podcast, which has already been recorded:
If you could see, think, and feel clearly – you wouldn’t misinterpret reality, and thus misperceive it, and thus have all sorts of issues that don’t seem to make sense/are difficult for you to begin working through.
The first step toward clarity is accepting that you’re conscious, and that how you use your consciousness has a large impact on your reality and experience.
This is where your ability to influence change lies. This is where your true power lies.
Accepting the truth of what it is that you’re resisting is exactly what needs to happen in order for you to get “unstuck”.
It’s perfectly okay if you recognize that your relationship or job sucks, and that you want something else.
What’s not okay is living in denial, carrying that energy around and infecting everything you do with it, and behaving passively-aggressively because you don’t know “the dark portions” of yourself well enough. That’s precisely why they control you so effectively.
Clarity is the #1 thing everyone is seeking, yet they don’t realize that’s what they’re actually looking for in life – because they lack even basic amounts of clarity to get started with. A spiritual catch-22 if there ever was one.
People don’t want hundreds of thousands of dollars (although that would help in some ways); what they truly want is fulfillment. People don’t actually want answers; they want clarity, so they can see and experience the answers for themselves.
Just by finding this website, no matter how you’ve found it, is proof enough to me that YOU are seeking clarity in constructive ways.
Non-constructive ways of achieving clarity include being passive-aggressive about the state of the economy/politics, sitting on your couch watching the news/eating fast food, and then arguing with strangers about the state of the world on Facebook, message boards, and forums.
The beautiful part of this process is that as you consciously and courageously explore your own resistances, you increase your power.
Just by becoming aware of the root causes of distress, you’re 51% of the way there. Each time you consciously locate and face down an irrational subconscious, socially-conditioned fear (or assumption in general), you make it easier to do the same thing next time around. This process is compounded in both directions.
Feed your courage, and life will give you incredible abundance, opportunity, and means for personal advance.
Feed your fear, and you’ll get the opposite.
Lots of people choose fear, and this creates the illusion that living life in a constant state of apathy, complacency, dissatisfaction, and lack of fulfillment is “normal”.
As you become increasingly more conscious and aware, you simultaneously remove anyone else’s ability to piss you off or upset you in any way, because you have an increasingly-accurate grip on your own internal resistance to such things.
Aggravations then turn into opportunities.
Half of the problem is that you’re not aware that you’re half of the problem.
Do your part on your end, and watch how the rest of the equation balances itself out.

The Cause of Your Low Self Esteem May Not Be What You Expect

Take a second to imagine little you – running around like the raggamuffin that you were. Imagine as far back as you can remember – back when you were first able to comprehend feedback from parents, teachers, or whatever other authorities were around.

When considering the causes of low self esteem, the most obvious answers lie under the umbrella of past abuse or failure. For example, a parent may have demanded straight A’s, or a spouse may have been emotionally abusive. These are common forms of mistreatment that cause some people’s self esteem to tank. But for those who’ve lived fairly easy lives, while surrounded by reasonably supportive people, low self esteem has no obvious root. What’s worse is that having an issue we don’t understand can make us feel weak or defective, as the problem seems to have no cause.

So if you’ve suffered with low self esteem, whether frequently or in certain situations, researchers have discovered a somewhat surprising link that may ease your mind.

The Little-Known Cause of Low Self Esteem
Maybe you think that Mr. Freud is an absolute dunce. I don’t blame you. But he is right about something, and it’s that what happens to us during childhood shapes us.

Researchers in the Netherlands discovered that parents who praise their children for innate qualities may actually do more harm than good. According to the study, parents should instead praise children for their hard work or effort.

So what’s the difference? It’s hardly possible to distinguish between a mother exclaiming, “Oh you’re such a good reader!” and another who says, “Oh, you worked so hard on your reading assignment!” But apparently, the difference is significant.

Children who were praised for “being” something felt a strange pressure that children who were praised for their behavior didn’t feel. When they failed, they associated the failure with an innate quality, rather than associating it with the amount of effort or quality of work they performed.

As you can imagine, associating your failures with innate flaws instead of just the quality of effort you put in can be damaging to a child’s impressionable self image. Suddenly “I didn’t study enough” becomes “I’m stupid.” “I need more practice with painting” becomes “I’m a bad artist,” etc. The low value falls on the self, not on the action taken.

To put it another way, this kind of praise conditions children to think they are supposed to already be something without practice or trial and error. After falling short of this irrational standard a few times, self esteem can drop quickly. Unfortunately, the researchers also found that parents were more likely to praise children with low self esteem for their innate qualities, thinking it would help give them a much-needed boost. Whoops.

If you’re skeptical, I can vouch for this theory personally. For much of my life, I wouldn’t try anything that I felt I wasn’t “innately” good at. I was big on beginner’s luck and anything I knew how to do intuitively, without much effort. Everything else (especially when hand-eye coordination was involved) could suck it, as far as I was concerned. My parents were not big encouragers of hard work (I was the youngest..and spoiled), so their praises were usually directed at my innate qualities.

Basically, how I behaved & my upbringing exemplified the above theory: I had no understanding of dedication and practice, or how they were key to becoming talented in any area. Instead, I fearfully avoided anything that required practice or failure, and stuck to things for which I felt I had a “natural” knack.

Do You Equate Your Value With the Outcome?
It might be useful to ask yourself: What is my relationship with hard work? Practice? Effort? Not necessarily grueling, unpleasant work – but simply the diligent work that brings you closer to a goal. If you’ve suffered from low self-esteem throughout your life, you may be familiar with shying away from effort. You may be a self-diagnosed quitter. Maybe you felt badly about yourself when you weren’t immediately good at a new task. May you thought you “just didn’t have it in you.” This kind of thinking helps low self esteem spread like wildfire.

The book, The Talent Code: Greatness Isn’t Born. It’s Grown. Here’s How, does a great job of debunking the “innate talent” myth. The author explains where talent and skill actually come from. (spoiler alert: it’s practice)

“Every expert in every field is the result of around ten thousand hours of committed practice.”

Thus extraordinary innate talent is mostly a myth, perpetuated by meaningless phrases like “you either have it or you don’t!” Of course, it’s safe to say that we all have propensities for certain things, but that does not bar others from practicing and developing that skill too.

So the next time you hold yourself to unrealistic expectations, remember: You are not your effort.

Stop Looking for Meaning in Your Life.

Perhaps you can relate when I tell you that I have spent the majority of my life in some sort of existential crisis.

I have asked more questions than I have received answers and have spent years seeking to find anything that could give myself a much needed sense of general direction.

Maybe you hear a lot about purpose.

Perhaps you read a lot about meaning.

And perhaps the word dharma has been so over spoken in your circles that it has lost its luster along with the words: path, journey and presence.

We see these words pop-up on our Facebook newsfeed and hear them spoken quite frequently in most yoga classes that you might attend on any given day of the week.

In recent years though, I have been entertaining the thought and living the philosophy that I need to stop looking.

I just needed to stop.

I ask that you too consider what I have learned and what is becoming increasingly clear to me. I have come to the belief that we are here, living these lives for these two reasons:

We are here to love.

And we are here to play.

We are here to have a human experience. And we have the choice to lighten up a little bit and enjoy it for as many moments as we possibly can.

If your life is challenging right now, I understand. I have been through so many fires in my life, have suffered extremely as a result of my own self-sabotage, and am anything but ignorant to the pain that exists in this world.

Despite all of this though, we can begin to change our experience by loving ourselves. We choose to love ourselves enough to choose the parts of ourselves that are beautiful, and by approaching the darker parts of us with grace and acceptance.

We can make this our practice, by making this our choice.

It does not matter what you have done, it does not matter the decisions that you have made—see yourself for the beautiful contribution that deep down you really are to this world and realize, truly realize, that that is who you are—because that is what is true.

Choose to be strong enough to look at the lies that have perhaps been taught to you by all of those “teachers” who did not know any better, who likely did this unintentionally or as a result of their own fears or ignorance.

We can look with grace at the lingering pain that we carry, perhaps as a result of treatment by our parents, our peers, our society and even ourselves, and choose to let it go and love what is true.

It is through this love for ourselves that we can begin to see these parts of others—the parts of them underneath all of their layers of fear and everything else that has piled up, and together we remind each other of what is true when life becomes too difficult to remember on our own.

We can choose to love ourselves; we can choose to see others for who they really are and we can also choose to see the beauty in the world. We can choose to look up at the ever-changing clouds in the sky, at the way that the water glistens from the sun, at the varying shades of green in our landscapes, at the mundane every day experiences for what they are—something that we get to experience.

We get to experience it all and we can get in touch with that part of ourselves that realizes the brevity of this experience as if it is a message that has been bottled up and sent back across an ocean of time from our future dying selves.

We do not have to keep searching for meaning, but rather realize that our meaning is our experience.

Our meaning is how we live—in every moment. It is in how we choose our thoughts, words and actions, and this is all largely dependent on our mindset as well as our world-view and our “self-view.”

We choose to see the beauty in ourselves and the rest falls into place like a line-up of dominoes.

We see what is true and lovable inside of us, which equips us to then see the beauty in others, and when the fears and false beliefs around these relationships fall away, it is a lot easier to see the beauty that is all around us in nature and what can transpire to amazement in everyday life that we perhaps used to view as the mundane.

We can still have goals and dreams—but they become part of our play rather than an obligatory need to find something that we think we are lacking.

Rather than thinking about these goals and dreams for something that we have to do in order to get somewhere, they rather become the icing on our cake. They enrich our experience via means of loving, playing, or likely a combination of both, and we do not need to will-power ourselves through any of it to the degree that we perhaps once did, but rather we will be excited to do it. We can get out of bed every day grateful for the chance to experience more.

Our loving each other can even become our play—love doesn’t need to be so heavy, and our playing in our lives can make it so much easier to love, as it can bring out the best in all of us.

We tend to think of playing as perhaps something for which we do not have the time—especially as adults. Our children can be our best teachers, and we can shift our mindset even to view our jobs, and other everyday actions as playing.

We can lighten up about that which feels heavy, and choose to not get wrapped up in that which we cannot change. We can feel and label that which challenges us, and we can have reverence for it before letting it fall away, and focus on our experience and the quality of it.

After all, loving and playing is all something that we get to do—if only for a short time.

My story

I want to change the world. I know I can't save it but I want to be able to offer something that will faciliate change. Having said that, i feel tottaly and utterly powerless. I am 26 years old and have no talents or resources to do that. I don't even have the power to support my self. I have no job, income, skills or self confidence to search for one. Plus I live in Greece wich makes it harder. And honestly I feel getting a job is a waste of time, since it will only enable me to survive so I can keep on working, resulting in a loop in wich I can't find meaning to sustain. So here I am staying at friends house living off her, and my poor parents. I am depressed and feel that I am only a cancer to this world. But I really want to change. I want to live life to the fullest. I want to experience moments of connection with people and places. I want to grow up, mature, become independent and discover myself in the process. And then offer my self to the world and becoming part of the change I want to see... But I dont know where or how to start. So here I am, making a blog about this. The reason I'm blogging is because i want to make money, so I can at first be able to survive on my own, and then maybe start traveling, or starting something else. The least I can offer here is articles I found in the web that I thought are of some value, and maybe some of my life experiences that maybe of use to anyone. So, I would like to ask for donations, advice, criticism and anything at all you think might be of help.
